Mapping Oxfordshires Downcountry Trails
When you meet a mountain biker on trails, at events or riding downcountry, an introduction of ‘I’m from Oxfordshire’ hardly ever invites a comment like ‘you’re lucky, you have so many great tracks, centres and singletrack routes to choose from’.
But, at OX Trails we think they’re misguided…
It’s different riding here. Yes, it is flatter, not so gnarly, and not too remote, but can be great fun, a good place to learn new skills and best of all, nearly always a mini adventure.
That’s why OX Trails are making every effort to start mapping and naming routes for Oxfordshire mountain bikers. They will be a range of distances, for all abilities and with different outcomes: family rides; loops to do on your own or with friends; routes with historical interest; town to town trails off road.
We are starting right now to map routes that make the most of what local mountain bikers already love using designated bridleways, towpaths, byways, quiet lanes whilst always keeping busy roads to the absolute minimum.
